Utahraptor ostrommaysorum is one of the most terrifying animals to ever live. This giant dromaeosaur was a top killing machine of the Cretaceous. In 2018, Utahraptor became the state fossil of the state of Utah. This dinosaur maintains widespread popularity due to the growing interest in dromaeosaurs. Jurassic Park set off the raptor craze in the early 1990s. Paleontologists continue making astonishing discoveries in the rich fossil grounds of the American southwest. One amazing discovery, however, lies dormant. The Utahraptor Project hopes to make progress on this front.
The Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point houses a 9 ton block containing fossils of several Utahraptor specimens and at least two herbivores. Extraction will be time consuming and expensive. Your donation will help to providing funding for the expensive equipment and labor required. The following excerpt from the project's website outlines the strategy.
